5/1/23
Hobbies / Interests:
I am excited to have more time to read books that I want to read again. I also just love spending time with my family and look forward to having more time for that.
What medical change has impacted the field of cancer the most since you began practicing medicine?
I have seen so many changes and advances over the past 22 years from new molecular testing to immunotherapies that are giving our patients a better chance at survival. I am excited to see how far we go in the next 20 years.
Why did you choose your field?
Prior to coming to ILCC I had lost several family members to cancer so I have always had an interest in Oncology. My true inspiration to become an Oncology nurse came from an Instructor that I had in Nursing school. She was an Oncology nurse, she loved it and made me fall in love with it as well. I have never looked back.
Do you have any advice to give patients after they have been diagnosed with cancer?
Keep your chin up and know that that you are not alone in this fight. Do your best to stay positive. Ask lots of questions, and if you need something ask for it, there are so many amazing people who want to help you.
