She returned to school and completed her Master of Science, Family Nurse Practitioner tract at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Peoria Campus in 1994. Deb is married to her husband Ed, a local Internist. They have 2 children, Ashley, currently a local pediatrician, and Daniel, a Palmer graduate chiropractor. She has lived in the Peoria area since 1986.Hobbies / Interests:
I enjoy spending time with my family and our multiple pets, reading, singing, traveling, and anything sports related! My husband Ed and I have two terrific kids and a beautiful grandson we adore.What medical change has impacted the field of cancer the most since you began practicing medicine?
It is the multiple advancements in the therapies, the further understanding and improved management of side effects, and the wide open field of new research. Also, the emergence of individualized treatment plans and targeted therapies that extend life.Why did you choose your field?
I've been involved in Family Practice and Internal Medicine for over 36 years, and I enjoy the challenge of oncology where I can use my skills to further serve patients in our community. The strong sense of hope and purpose among the staff at Illinois CancerCare drew me to this position.Why did you choose Illinois CancerCare?
I'm a Midwest girl at heart. My extended family still lives in the Midwest, and now my children and grandson are also here. Family is extremely important to me.Do you have any advice to give patients after they have been diagnosed with cancer?
