Exciting News! Illinois CancerCare Joins National Effort to Transform Cancer Care
We are proud to announce that Illinois CancerCare has been selected to participate in the Enhancing Oncology Model (EOM)—a groundbreaking national initiative led by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI). This program is designed to improve the quality of cancer care while helping reduce healthcare costs for patients and families.
Beginning July 1, 2025, Illinois CancerCare will join a select group of only seven oncology practices nationwide chosen to enroll in this second cohort of the seven-year model. Together, these practices represent more than 500 care sites in 33 states, all committed to delivering more personalized, coordinated, and supportive care—especially for patients covered by Medicare.
As part of the EOM, Illinois CancerCare will focus on:
- Providing patient navigation services to guide individuals through every step of their cancer journey.
- Creating individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs and preferences.
- Taking greater accountability for the quality and cost of care during cancer treatment.
This opportunity builds on Illinois CancerCare’s 48-year legacy of delivering compassionate, high-quality cancer care right here in our community. We are honored to continue that tradition as part of this national effort to transform oncology care and improve outcomes for those we serve.
Patients who will be enrolled in the program will receive a separate communication from their Illinois CancerCare Care team with more information.
