How the Genetics Process Works
We designed this process to be straightforward, supportive, and guided by the latest evidence.
Step 1: Initial Genetics Consultation
You’ll meet with a genetics provider—either in person or by telehealth. Together, we’ll review your personal and family history, talk about your goals, and decide whether genetic testing could be helpful for you
Step 2: Genetic Testing (If You Choose To)
If testing makes sense and you decide to proceed, you will provide a saliva sample or a simple blood draw.
Genetic testing is always optional, and timing is flexible.
Step 3: Lab Analysis
Your sample goes to a specialized genetics lab for analysis. Some labs offer financial assistance or reduced cost options. We will let you know if either of these options are applicable for you.
Step 4: Results & Next Steps
We will meet again to review your results in plain language, answer any questions, and talk through the next steps for you. These next steps could include screening plans, prevention strategies, treatment implications, and what the results of the test may mean for your family. Follow-up visits are billed through insurance unless you choose self-pay.
