Hobbies / Interests:
I am engaged to my fiancé, Kody, and have a step-son, Luke, and we are a busy family! We have two dogs, Dixie and Louie – are my 4-legged babies. Luke is in hockey and football, so we are busy watching him, as well as professional sports teams, like the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Blues! We love swimming, playing pickleball, and grilling out. I love reading a good book, cooking new recipes, and getting crafty around the house.
What medical change has impacted the field of cancer the most since you began practicing medicine?
I think the evolution of targeted therapy for specific cancers and how research is continuing to narrow spectrums of drugs for disease management is amazing!
Why did you choose your field?
I chose oncology because I have seen several people I love get cancer over the years. I’ve witnessed many have great care during the hardest time of their lives, and I wanted to be able to deliver care, knowledge, and compassion, like they had, to others.
Do you have any advice to give patients after they have been diagnosed with cancer?
Your mind is one of your strongest assets! Always keep a positive attitude – you’d be amazed how that can help your overall journey and healing!
