Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter, weightlifting, collecting sports cards, and exploring new technologies such as 3D printing. I also enjoy traveling and staying active.
What medical change has impacted the field of cancer the most since you began practicing medicine?
One of the most significant advances has been the development of precision medicine and targeted therapies. These treatments, along with the continued growth of immunotherapy, have allowed many patients to receive more personalized care.
Why did you choose your field?
I chose medicine because I wanted a career that combined science with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. After practicing in several areas of medicine, I was drawn to hematology because it allows me to build long-term relationships with patients, educate them about their conditions, and help guide them through what can often be challenging and uncertain times.
Do you have any advice to give patients after they have been diagnosed with cancer?
A cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to face it alone. I encourage patients to ask questions, lean on their support system, and take things one step at a time. There have been tremendous advances in cancer care, and every patient’s journey is unique. Staying informed, maintaining hope, and partnering closely with your healthcare team can make a meaningful difference throughout the process.
