Hobbies / Interests:
I spend most of my free time with my four daughters, two dogs and one cat. I love to travel, be outdoors and enjoy good food. I am an avid bookworm and love books of all genres – Stephen King is the all time favorite! I also enjoy my daily workouts of Pilates or Barre.
Why did you choose your field?
In my 20-year nursing career, I have taken care of patients with many various types and stages of cancer. I feel that oncology is both a challenging and rewarding career path with which I can make a real difference to those on an on-going cancer journey, and those whose battle has just begun.
Do you have any advice to give patients after they have been diagnosed with cancer?
Never be afraid to ask questions. It is important to be educated about your illness and to understand the purpose of your treatment. If you don’t understand something the provider is saying, it is okay to ask for clarification. It is important to be an active participant in your own care.
