Cancer treatment center is a place of hope

The cancer center is expanding, with a new wing of building that is currently under construction.

Illinois CancerCare treats patients with new therapies and drugs, but relies on a core group of health professionals and volunteers.

It’s a place that deals with cancer but there’s nothing depressing about Illinois CancerCare.

“This is a place of hope,” said Peg Ramsey, the director of clinical and support services at the facility at 8940 N. Wood Sage Road, off Illinois Route 91.

That hope comes from the progress made at a center founded in 1977 by Dr. Stephen Cullinan that now employs 300 people and, along with its 13 clinics across central Illinois, sees 500 patients a day.
